Manuscripts by other composers

Music scores in manuscripts by other composers from Beethoven's environment form their own small group in the collection of the Beethoven-Haus (first and early editions see library).

The copies made by Beethoven show how he dealt with the art of his predecessors and contemporaries. He copied documents to study a certain type of movement such as the fugue or to solve a composition related problem like how to handle singing voices in his opera "Fidelio".
