Summary
Beethoven had obviously sent two (no longer surviving) letters to Karl Holz and Stephan von Breuning to Holz' lodgings. He enquires whether Holz has already given the letter to Breuning and if so, with what result. He asks Holz to come by that afternoon. At the end he adds that his nephew Karl has only five more days (according to the BGA this concerns his stay in hospital following his suicide attempt in August 1826; the dating of the letter also results from this). Karl Holz often carried out messenger errands and tasks for Beethoven as a favour.
