Summary
In this lengthy letter to his friend Bernard Beethoven writes of the problems he is currently having with his nephew Karl and how he will deal with them. In a hard and unrelenting tone he gives voice to the usual reproaches and accusations against his sister-in-law (the child's mother), the authorities and officials involved, as well as against the educationalist Blöchlinger and even against his nephew.
