Summary
Beethoven asks Haslinger whether it would be better to have the white walls in one of his rooms painted or papered, and how much this will cost. Haslinger advises him against wallpaper.
In addition Beethoven asks about chests of drawers. Haslinger names models and prices, whereupon Beethoven asks when he can go shopping with him. They decide on the following day.
Finally the topic turns to Johann Nepomuk Maelzel. Metronomes have arrived from the latter, but neither Beethoven nor Haslinger know any more about the matter. Beethoven supposes that the newspapers will write something about it.
In October 1817 Haslinger helped Beethoven move apartments. His advice regarding wallpaper and chests of drawers might have been in connection with this.
