Summary
In an accompanying letter the poet Ludwig Rellstab offers the composer his libretto "Orest" as the basis for a new opera. He is more than willing to make any changes necessary. If Beethoven does not like the material at all, he can work on a new subject at any time.
In a post script Rellstab adds that he will ask Beethoven his opinion in a few days (in BKh 7, p. 237f the subject of the libretto is discussed; Beethoven rejected it).
