Summary
Beethoven probably sends the Lied "Andenken" WoO 135 with a text by Matthisson with this letter to Baron Seckendorf. He apologizes for the delay, giving different reasons for it including his bad state of health. The Lied is to be published in the magazine "Prometheus" which Seckendorf edited together with Joseph Ludwig Stoll. However, after the magazine had stopped publication in September 1808, the Lied was no longer printed.
Beethoven asks Seckendorf to send him a copy of Goethe's "Faust", which has just been published, as well as back issues of "Prometheus".
Finally Beethoven promises to send further settings of Goethe's poems for "Prometheus" (although this did not come to anything as the magazine was discontinued).
