Summary
Draft of a letter by Beethoven to Schott publishers, who had published a "kindly communicated joke" about Tobias Haslinger in their own magazine Cäcilia without Beethoven's knowledge or permission.
Beethoven explains that this cutting satire had not been intended for publication and could be easily taken as an insult. He asks them to print this explanation in the next issue so as to put things straight. Following the draft he also made notes of conversations on the matter. Schott did not print the correction, as it was supposed that Beethoven only wanted to justify himself in front of Haslinger.
