Recent acquisitions

Most of Beethoven's manuscripts as well as documents relating to him are in libraries and archives. Individual items can still occasionally be acquired at auctions and in antiquarian bookstores. Private donors and collectors directly approach the Beethoven-Haus to offer their treasures on loan, as gifts or for sale. The state and private foundations generally make financial contributions towards larger acquisitions.
