Visiting the Stage for Music Visualisation

On December 5th, 2004, the Digital Beethoven-House was opened in the neighbouring house of the Beethoven-House "Im Mohren". On two floors equipped with new media, visitors can go on an interactive tour through Beethoven's bequest and enter an audiovisual world. The Studio for Digital Collections (ground floor) and the Stage for Music Visualisation in the historic vault, where historic elements and a future-oriented performance technology are uniquely combined, are located across the sculpture courtyard. Wearing 3D glasses, the viewers enter a virtual world of data and sound. On an audiotransparent screen and by means of 18 loudspeakers Beethoven's music takes on an optical acoustical shape while the audience can partake in the real-time visualisation through four novel interactive devices.

At the moment two performances of the Fraunhofer Institute for Media Communication directed by Johanna Dombois are given at the Stage for Music Visualisation:

  • Fidelio, 21st Century
  • Presto 126/4
The performances start every day at 10:30 a.m. (except Sundays), 11:15 a.m., 12:00, 12:45 p.m., 2:00 p.m., 2:45 p.m., 3:30 p.m., 4:15 p.m. and during summer also at 5:00 p.m.
