The organs of the Society are the General Meeting and the Board of Directors. The Board has complete responsibility, carries out the Society's resolutions and manages its finances, and in particular prepares the annual budget. To further the aims of the Beethoven-Haus, the Board of Directors is supported by a Scholarly Advisory Board and by a Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees is made up of members of the Board of Directors as well as representatives of the Federation, Federal State of North-Rhine-Westphalia, City of Bonn and Rhineland Regional Council. The Cologne district government supervises the Beethoven-Haus Society.
The day-to-day business is conductued by the Director of the Beethoven-Haus on behalf of Board of Directors and within the framework of the guiding principles laid down by them.
The society Verein Beethoven-Haus is an non-profit-making institution. It has limited income of its own. To fulfil its tasks it relies not only upon private donations (donation form) but also to a large extent on public subsidies.
The financial assets in the form of earmarked donations have been managed by the Beethoven-Haus Bonn, a foundation with legal personality, since the year 2000. The members of the Foundation Board are the same as those on the Board of Directors of the Beethoven-Haus Society. There is a advisory Foundation Board of Trustees. The Foundation is subject to the Cologne district government as the supervisory authority for foundations.
By arrangement with the public subsidizing institutions, the following areas have been assigned to the Beethoven-Haus Vertriebsgesellschaft mbH since 1 January 1999:
- Beethoven-Haus shop,
- copyright of film and photographs,
- distribution for the Beethoven-Haus Publishers.
The profits from the GmbH are allocated to the institutional budget.
