Music edition award for facsimile of the "Moonlight sonata"

For the publication of Beethoven's "Moonlight sonata" the German music editor association awarded the German music edition award 2004 to the Beethoven-Haus Publishers in the category "scientific note issues". A public commendation has taken place on March 31st in the context of the music fair at Frankfurt am Main.

It has been twice within few years that the Beethoven-Haus Publishers got this award. In 2001 they had been awarded for the fascimile of the autograph of Beethoven's pastoral symphony.

The facsimile of the "Moonlight sonata" was published in summer 2003. The first volume represents the complete autograph, of which the original is part of the collections of the Beethoven-Haus, as well as all still existing sketches. The second volume includes the first print of the sonata, a transcription of the sketches and a detailed commentary by the custos of the collections of the Beethoven-Haus, Dr. Michael Ladenburger.

Both of the volumes are beautifully presented, with silver print on a deep blue cover and packed in a slipcase. The complete facsimile costs 78,- Euro.
