Things worth knowing
Mozart's influence

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was one of Beethoven's great musical models. Beethoven admired Mozart's artistry and studied many of his works. He made copies of several compositions, including this extract from Mozart's Piano Trio KV 496. Here you can see the score of the 4th Variation from the last movement of the Trio. The upper staff is for the violin part - it has a clef but there are no notes. The staff below this one contains the cello part and the ones below the piano part. Beethoven did not put a title on his copy or label it in any manner. (J.R.)
